Nathan is our inaugural EyeMotion Photography Senior Class Ambassador.

Nathan is the Captain of the cross-country team at Jordan High School and enjoys being a good example and leader to the other runners. He has a great group of friends that he loves to run with. He loves to serve and help others to do their best. Nathan is also a member of the PTSA board, track team, and is preparing to serve an LDS mission this summer.

We had a great time taking portraits of Nathan with the studio lights and also on location around Jordan High School. Nathan had several different outfits and we tried several different lighting techniques. The weather was quite cold and windy when were walking around Jordan High School so unfortunately we did not last very long. (Plus Nathan needed to get to ready for a dance that night, so we ran out of time!)

Portraits of the Burks

My brother Curtis’s family came over first to get their portraits taken in the garage studio.

They have their hands full with three kids. The first two were both walking and VERY early and have been exhausting to keep up with ever since. We will see what the third one has in store. You can find more pictures of the CR Burk Family over here and on the EyeMotion Photography FaceBook Page.

Portraits of the Clarks

The next family in the studio was the CS Clark Family. I always enjoy taking pictures of my sister’s adorable little girls and now they have a new little brother.

The three girls were really getting their poses on, popping those hips and looking sassy. I decided to give these photos an aged look after seeing that in their home they have all large set of pictures in this style. Portraits of the Burks

The final family of the weekend photo shoot was the JS Burk Family and their three rowdy boys.

I had a blast photographing these three families. I need to convince them to come back more often!

I scouted out several spots the day before and was happy to find some great places that were not too far from home. All of these portraits were taken around the old downtown area of Midvale. We found boarded up buildings, graffiti, painted over graffiti, sketchy alley ways, and old walls with peeling paint.

I was glad that the train cars were still there, as when I had asked the property owner the day before if I could take pictures there, he said that they would most likely be taken away that evening.

Jackson was a trooper as we walked around in the cold looking for great places to take some pictures. Luckily he had his dapper three-piece suit to keep him warm.  He was a great subject and maybe even an aspiring model.

Grandma needed some new pictures so she gave me a call to schedule a photo shoot with her grand kids.

She was looking for some simple portraits so I setup the lights and the white seamless background and took some individual high-key shots.

It was fun getting to know the kids (a little bit) and see their very different personalities while they tried to not think about (or show) how cold it actually was in my little garage “studio”.

There may or may not have a been a tease or two about boyfriends, girlfriends, and/or crushes but I neither can confirm nor deny those rumors.

It is always fun to get a reaction out them.

I upgraded my lighting setup since we had fun with my little speed lights with the Barber family.

I was quite pleased with the consistency of the light. Barbers, you should come back!

They chose my garage as the venue, white seamless backdrop behind, lights and camera in front.

The mood started off just as chilly as the weather, Jake in particular was not pleased with this adventure.

But we perservered. We worked on some individual shots while a little more father-son bonding was going on in the other room.

The kids did great for their individuals but I have to give a C- grade to my lights as they progressively got worse. Battery, flash and trigger issues were not making it fun for me as I struggled to get the shots.  This problem will be rectified soon!

Handsome bunch eh?

I have no idea what this little inside joke was but it was fun to watch. Alex was a good sport and acted like he knew the joke too, but Amanda was firm on her opposition.

Thanks Barbers for enduring the cold and hanging out in my garage for some fun portraits.

How could I say no!

We met at Wheeler Farm and enjoyed wandering around the wooded areas looking for fun backdrops for their family.

Wheeler Farm has lots of wooded areas with paths that offer lots of variety for portrait backdrops.

Even though all the leaves have fallen off of the trees and grasses have turned brown, there are still lots of interesting variety to photograph.

Not having bright colors in the background makes the subjects of the portraits, the cute Chapman family, stand out even more.

Aren’t Lily and Emma are just adorable!

They loved playing the small play house and were not happy when we shuffled them on to the next photo spot.

We had a fun time taking some fun family portraits at Wheeler Farm.

Thanks Chapmans, lets do it again next time you are in town…or maybe we should come to you next!

We went to Murray Park and found a few trees showing off their great autumn colors. The weather was perfect and the clouds were creating some great soft light.

Benjamin was in a better mood than Noah. Bribes were not even working very well as Noah was demanding which photos he needed to be in. Some how we were able to get several decent shots.

Thanks to Kassie who was on hand to push the shutter button after I setup the shots on the tripod. That was much easier then running back and forth after a 5 shot, timer delayed burst.
